Hi! My name is Cassie and I'm the new owner of Scallywags.
Most of you know me as Norman’s mom. But I am also the new owner of Scallywags!
Animals have always been a big part of my life and I can’t imagine a life without them. I’ve worked with animals since high school. While working as a grooming assistant in college I discovered my true calling, and decided to enroll in NY Pet Styling Academy in Clifton Park where I met Lori.
In 2013, I moved to Maryland and operated a grooming business though Dog Senses Unlimited, a dog training facility. Where I was honored to groom several dogs for the Westminster Agility competition.
In 2016, I accepted a teaching position at NY Pet Styling Academy and moved home to NY. Where I also began working with a local dog groomer where I perfected my breed standard skills.
In 2022, an opportunity presented itself for Lori and I to reconnect and I became a part of the Scallywags team. Where Lori and I stated a plan for me to take over so she could move south to be with her loving parents.
While starting this new chapter with Lori I also got married to my best friend John and became a stepmom to his son Alan. I’m not sure who’s most excited for this adventure, Alan or myself. Alan dreams of becoming a good groomer as well and helping in the family business.
John, Alan, Norman and I are looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you!
SCALLYWAGS MISSION STATEMENT
Compassionate and expert grooming care is what we offer every customer at Scallywags Dog Salon. Grooming is our passion and our clients are very special and important to us. Our goal is to provide each of our clients with the style they want in a loving, caring and stress-free environment.
We realize many of our furry friends don't always love coming to the grooming salon. It can be scary for them, which is why we recently expanded our salon to cut down on the noise for a quieter, more relaxing groom. Successful grooming is a partnership between our customers and staff. We are always willing to share our knowledge of grooming and pet care AND to listen to your advice on how to work with every pet entrusted to us. Thank you!
SCALLYWAGS STAFF
MEGAN
My name is Megan and I've been grooming since 2021. I went to the New York Academy of Pet Styling the fall after I graduated high school to jump right into a career. Ever since I can remember I’ve always had a love for dogs and their many different personalities so I knew working with dogs would be the right move for me.
I’m a young mom to a crazy little black dog named Parsley, whom I rescued through a grooming job. I will forever be thankful my career led me to her! I’ve been working at Scallywags since the beginning of 2023 and have enjoyed every second--I love how tight knit we are! My goal is to help as many dogs as I can--no matter how big, small, young, old or what their physical abilities are--to look and feel their best.
JESS
Jessica has always had a passion for working with animals and humans. She began her career with animals by going to animal behavior college, and graduated in 2016.
Jess loves training all size dogs and cats. Her three cats at home think that they are dogs. After years of training dogs she decided to make the change to become a pet groomer. In January of 2022 Jess became a member of the Scallywags team.
You will often see her grooming or training dogs on Saturdays. She looks forward to growing with the company and meeting lots of new faces, (both human and furry) for years to come.
Kellie
After graduating from SUNY Potsdam with a BA in Business Economics and spending several years in Human Resources, I decided to refocus my energy on something that truly brings me joy - pets! I have always tried to help people and now I’m happy to do the same for pups. I graduated from NY Academy of Pet Styling in 2023 and was fortunate to become a part of the talented team here at Scallywags.
I have had several breeds of wonderful dogs over the years. My current fur baby is a sweet gentleman rescue cat named Bacchus.
Our furry friends deserve compassion and empathy when they are being groomed. I take pride in my work and will always make sure that your dog is comfortable and happy while I make them look fantastic!
Ashley
My name is Ashley and I live in Guilderland, NY with my husband, three busy children and 10 year old Cocker Spaniel named Daisy.
I have been grooming off and on since graduating from Golden Paws Pet Styling Academy in 2010. After losing our family dog- a Bichon Frise named Sparky- and getting a new puppy who required grooming, I decided I wanted to try my own hand at it and found Golden Paws Pet Styling Academy opening up in Clifton Park, NY. Shortly after graduating, I started a family and couldn’t devote all of my time to my career. I’ve worked part-time over the years and groomed family and friends dogs on the side.
My area of expertise is working with first timers, old timers and dogs that don’t *really* enjoy the grooming process. I take a “less is more”, gentle and patient approach and strive to make every pet feel safe and confident on my table.
I am so happy to be a part of the wonderful Scallywags team and look forward to providing a positive grooming experience for you and your pets!
Dee
I came to be with the Scallywags team in 2021.
Many of you know me as Momma Dee. I treat each and everyone of the daycare dogs as my own.
